Vintage 1961 Gibson Les Paul Jr, serial number 28435. This is the model that was made when Gibson changed the body style to the SG thin type body style. There were a certain number of these early Les Pauls that had not Les Paul logo on the headstock, this is one of those. Do your due diligence and verify this information. Eventually, Gibson started adding the Les Paul logo on the headstock. I purchased this guitar about 15 years ago. It had been refinished when purchased, how some routing under the bridge for adding another pickup, etc. The pickup was original, the tuners were original and was missing the bridge, pickguard and rear control panel. I had my guitar tech go through it. It needed a new tone pot and a new capacitor(vintage re-issue capacitor installed, USA pot installed). I had an vintage Gold Kahler laying around and he installed this as well, so it is a double locking Kahler bridge/tremelo system. A new pickguard and rear control panel was installed. We decided to refinish it ivory white. He is not a professional refinisher, but did a good job with the refinish. It is a soft Ivory white. The only blemishes are where I had it sitting on a guitar stand and there are some discolorations on the neck and the bottom of the guitar(insignificant). The neck shows some wear and the frets on the first 4 frets are worn more than the others. They were not an issue for me and the original frets are still installed. It plays well and has a lower type action this is lightening fast. The neck is straight, but as with all guitars, the new owner may want to have the neck adjusted for the string gauge and type of music being played. It has the vintage early 1960s original P-90 growl that measures 8.4. It has the growl, sustain, tonality, compression and musicality that only a vintage Gibson P90 can produce. The Kahler works well, the guitar stays in tune and it has been a great player. It was never gigged with as those days are long behind me. It has always been in a non smoking climated controlled bedroom on a stand. It will come with a nice quality later model Epiphone Les Paul case. The guitar fits perfectly and is protective. SonnY :) PS: The routing that was done when I purchased the guitar did not affect the original pickup pocket. The routing is a small square area-see picture.
